Burt and Faye Cox were married for 51 years. Faye was born on January 2, 1952, and passed on November 26, 2024. Burt was born on October 16, 1952, and passed on April 13, 2025.
The duo met at Grissom High School, where they were the first graduating class, and remained high-school sweethearts throughout the rest of their lives. They got married on August 18, 1973, and had their only daughter, Nyoka, in 1974. Burt and Faye were an iconic and unequaled couple that shared a joint passion for horses and everything outdoors. They moved around often in their early decades of their marriage, living one year in Springville, AL and five years in Azle, Texas before moving back to Huntsville. After settling at their forever home, the two jointly made Sunset Reiners, a proud business that prided itself not only on its spectacular show horses, but also on the basis that it was made from pure love and passion.
Burt and Faye were wonderful parents to their daughter, showing her nothing but love, offering her unique experiences, and teaching her genuine work ethic. Their relationship with their daughter was something truly special and sits unparalleled to others. To their grandchildren they were just as loving, taking every opportunity to spoil them with affection. Whether it was Burt's kind, heartwarming smile, or Faye's contagious laughter, the two lightened any room they walked into. To hear other's talk about them was to hear an authentic, fairytale-esque story of the love they shared for each other, and how it brought a warmth into the hearts of others.
A Celebration of Life for Faye and Burt will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Thursday, April 17, from 12 to 2 p.m.
