Allen "Butch" Wegener, age 76, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Allen was born on March 31, 1947, in Clintonville, son of the late Elmer and Norma (Oleson) Wegener.
Allen graduated from Little Wolf High School, in Manawa and then served in the National Guards. On September 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Kristine Thompson in Manawa. Allen worked construction out of high school and then worked at Curwood for 38 years before retiring. In his free time, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He loved his many weekends at their camper, tinkering on his lawn mowers, and his collection of knives. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by so many.
Allen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kristine; his son, Chad (Lisa) Wegener; granddaughters: Mikayla, Mikenna, and Lauren; siblings: James (Patty) Wegener and Peg Harris; in-laws: Mary Wegener, Peggy (Don) Dallman, Jane Suehs, Jenny (Brian) Bessette and Peter (Kristine) Thompson. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including his cat Smokey.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Norma Wegener; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Betty Thompson; brother, Leroy Wegener; sister-in-law, Judy Wegener; brothers-in-law: Michael Harris, Jerry Suehs.
A Memorial Service for Butch will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa, with Rev. John Hielsberg and Rev. Kelly Loken officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 4-7pm on Monday, July 24th, and 9-10:45am on Tuesday, July 25th. Military Honors will follow the service.
