Byron John deJonge, 74 of Higbee, went home to the Lord, September 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family.
Byron was born on June 19, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri to Jon and Willemina (Vos) deJonge, shortly after their move from Holland. The family later made their home in Moberly, Missouri, where Byron attended Moberly High School.
Byron worked for many years in various trades, including work for Stamper Feed Mill and Randolph County Foundation. Byron was a master equipment operator and fabricator. He was known for his strong work ethic and machinery knowledge. Byron was a fierce patriot with a love of muscle cars, drag racing, tractor pulls, and working on the farm. He also was a devoted member and Trustee at Zion Lutheran Church, Moberly, Missouri.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents.
Byron is survived by his wife, Carla (Gallop) deJonge, of Higbee, Missouri, whom he married September 13, 2013. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Tony (Sondra) deJonge of Higbee, Missouri, stepson Bradley (Molly) Gallop, of Madison, Missouri. Grandchildren Kaila (Matt) Bolles of Clark, Missouri, Craig (Mariah) deJonge, of Moberly, Missouri, Emerson and Lydia Gallop, Madison, Missouri. Great Grandchildren, Kinley and Britton Bolles, Clark, Missouri. Brother Bruce (Patricia) deJonge, Moberly, Missouri.
The family would ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Moberly, Missouri in honor of Byron deJonge.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held, at the Zion Lutheran Church, followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Byron's life. Committal prayer and burial took place in the Oakland Cemetery.
