C. Czerniewski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 11, 2025.
Catherine Patricia ("Pat") Czerniewski (nee Brady) of Eldersburg, MD passed away in Taneytown, MD, on June 9, 2025, at 95 years of age.
Pat was born and raised in Wallington, NJ, the daughter of Francis Anthony Brady and Marcella Frances Ryan. She graduated from Lodi High School in Lodi NJ and became an executive secretary. She lived in Nutley, NJ for almost 50 years and moved to Eldersburg MD in 2018. A devout Catholic, she worked for many years at the Archdiocese of Paterson, NJ, where she was recognized for her exemplary service and devotion.
Among her many talents, Pat was an outstanding baker. Her apple pies, chocolate chip cookies, and customized birthday cakes are legendary within the family. She was thoughtful and generous and never forgot a birthday or special occasion. Her memory was remarkable. At her insistence she lived independently, and she remained physically active, mentally sharp, and even a bit "feisty" to the end.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Joseph Czerniewski and former husband Russell Kerestes, and by her sister, Marcella Randazzo (nee Brady), and Marcella's husband, Ben Randazzo.
Pat is survived by two loving daughters, Kathleen (Kerestes) Mairella of Chatham, MA, and Diane (Kerestes) Hollasch of Marriottsville, MD, and their spouses, Steven Mairella and Ken Hollasch. She was the much beloved "Nanny" to her grandchildren, Steven Matthew Mairella and his wife, Rachel; David Mairella and his fiancee, Mary; and Lauren Mairella; Robert Hollasch and his wife, Alex; and Kevin Hollasch and his fiancee Ally; and to her four great-grandchildren: Luke Hollasch, Ryan Hollasch, and Brynn Hollasch; and Anthony Mairella. She is also survived by her two dear nieces, Gail Randazzo Hrbek and Cindy Randazzo Laurina.
Visitation will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, June 16 at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD. A funeral mass will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, June 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD. Interment to follow at Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville.
