SALEM – Caitlin Marie Silk, 42, of Salem, died peacefully, November 12th, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her "Village" of loving family and friends.
Born in Beverly, to Mary (Arundel) Luz and the late Peter M. Silk. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School class of 2000. She continued her education at Middlesex Community College, earning her Dental Hygiene Associates Degree.
Ms. Silk had been employed as a certified Dental Hygienist for many years.
A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Caitlin was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She had a passion for music and attended hundreds of concerts with family and friends. Relishing every moment of music and friendship. She was a fantastic cook. Taking great pride in seeing others enjoy her delectable dishes. She was a firm believer in giving back. Her favorite charity was "It Starts with Me" and she worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate than her during the Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. She relished time spent with family and friends at get-togethers, cookouts, holidays and any and all social events. Family always came first to Caitlin.
An ever-present smile and a laugh that could make the grumpiest person grin, Caitlin's heart shined through her being. If she was laughing you couldn't help but join in. It was so contagious. She gave freely of her love through her care and concern for others, especially her children. She was often referred to as a second mom to all of her kids' friends and was the ultimate "Dance Mom". Fixing costumes, fashioning hairstyles and making sure all of her little ones were looking spectacular and most importantly that they were happy.
Caitlin's spirit is with all of those she touched. She brought so much joy to others, just by being Caitlin. Her laugh and love are imprinted on the hearts and minds of those closest to her and her memory will always be eternal.
Caitlin is survived by her children, Cailey Gerrard and her companion, Skyler Clawson and Tyler Dominguez, all of Salem, her mother, Mary (Arundel) Luz and her husband, Stephen Luz (affectionately referred to as Daddy Number 2 by Caitlin) of Salem, her maternal grandmother, Nancy Shepard of Pepperell, her sister, Kelly Silk and her husband, Scott Bode of Salem, her brother, John Silk and his companion, Caryn Makros of Salem, her aunt, Lori Swasey of Salem, her god son, Jonathan Swasey and his companion, Hannah Pinney, her nieces and nephews, Alyshia Silk, Gary Silk, Christopher Moreland, Daniel Silk, Emma Moreland and Oliver Heenan.
