WHITEFIELD – Caleb A. Sweatt, 33, of Whitefield, died tragically and unexpectedly on Monday, July 17, 2023, in Whitefield, N.H.
He was born in Colebrook on Nov. 11, 1989. He grew up in Errol and attended school in Colebrook, and later studied welding at White Mountain Community College in Berlin. At the time of his passing, Caleb was a valued employee at Daniel Hebert, Inc., and had previously worked for VR Concrete and Tradesman International.
From a young age, Caleb was an enthusiastic sportsman. He played baseball and excelled, from Little League through high school, and continued to play softball in the summer co-ed league in Gorham for the Top Notch Builders team. He was an avid and die-hard fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the New England Patriots. He was fortunate last year to be able to take his young sons to a Yankees game in New York City and to a Patriots game in Massachusetts with his childhood and life-long friend, Mark Largesse. Caleb also enjoyed hiking, especially Mt. Prospect in Lancaster, where he always found peace. He also loved to hunt and fish, and was proud to be with his eldest son last year when he got his first deer, along with Grandpa Doug.
His family and friends will always remember Caleb as being the life of the party, wherever he was, and for having a "shit-eating grin," which made you wonder what was coming next, and for which he seems to have passed along to the next generation.
Caleb leaves behind two young sons who were his proudest achievement and who he loved most in the world, Miles and Abel Sweatt of Lancaster; his parents, Cathy (Goodreau) and Doug Edwards of Magalloway, Me.; his siblings, Ashley Edwards (Joseph Cote) of Milan, Jacob Goodreau of Manchester, Shawn Sweatt of Norton, Vt., and Ryan Neal of Northwood, N.H.; his grandmother, Pauline Goodreau of Colebrook, and grandfather, Roy Edwards of Magalloway; aunts and uncles: Donna & Michael Brisbin, Paula & Larry White, Debbie Broome, Chrissy Goodreau, Barry & Kelly Eastman, Kevin Eastman, Rhonda & Dana Caron, Donald Edwards, Ronald Edwards, and Danny & Denise Bissonnette; and his niece and nephews, Aubrey Goodreau, Maddox Goodreau, Ryan Cote and Beau Cote; his "BFF," Richard Lagasse; as well as numerous cousins and countless friends.
He is predeceased by his grandfather, Andres Goodreau, his grandmother, Donna Edwards, and an uncle, Paul Goodreau.
Caleb's family will hold calling hours on Thursday, July 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. An interment service will occur at a later date in the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
