Calvin T. Behm went to be with the Lord onSaturday 2/18/2023 as the result of a tragic automobile accident. Cal was born on May 28th,1999 in Erie, PA. Cal is survived by his parents Jillian (Halmi, DO) Behm and Anthony Behm (DO of Erie, PA), his older brother Carey Behm of Media, PA. His grandparents are John and Shirley Behm, Barbara Halmi Nene (Dave) and Terry Halmi. His aunts and uncles are Amy (Brad) Boyd, and Travis (Alyson) Halmi.

He was loved and adored by many cousins. As an early teen, Cal started playing water polo with Tiger Water Polo Club of Pittsburgh. Cal went on to become an elite water polo player. He attended Cathedral Prep, graduating in 2018. While at Prep, Cal helped lead the team to multiple state tournament appearances and in 2017, was voted Mr. Water Polo as the top high school player in the state of Pennsylvania. That year he was selected to the first team high school All-American water polo team, an honor given to only 12 athletes across the United States. He currently holds the career scoring record at Prep. He was also on the Cathedral Prep varsity swim team and swam the breaststroke leg on the state gold medley relay in 2017. He enjoyed competing under his aquatic coaches: Mike Doyle, "Doc" Morosky, Panos Tzelatis, Damir Matanovic, Jim Staresinic, and Nikola Makezanov. In 2017, he signed his national letter of intent to play for James Graham at D1 University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, a perennial national power in water polo. Unfortunately, due to concussions sustained his senior year, he chose to forgo water polo and attended Penn State University main campus for two years. After playing club water polo at PSU, he rekindled his passion for water polo and transferred to Pacific in 2020 to play collegiate water polo. Due to covid and cancellation of the 2020 season, he played professionally in Nies, Serbia in the spring of 2021 before returning to Pacific. In his senior year at Pacific, the team won the Golden Coast conference and advanced in the NCAA tournament to a final four finish. He graduated from University of the Pacific in December of 2022 with a degree in communications.

At the time of his death, Cal had accepted a prestigious position with AT&T at their executive development sales training program at AT&T headquarters in Dallas, TX. Calvin was fiercely loyal to his brothers at Prep, his Nittany lion family, and his teammates at Pacific. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. We remain very appreciative of the love we have received from his Cathedral Prep family, Pacific teammates, Millcreek Community Church, and people all over the world who prayed for Cal. We are indebted to the exceptional and compassionate care provided by the physicians and staff at UPMC Hamot TNICU.

A visitation will be held at Millcreek Community Church, 4444 Sterrettania Road, from 12-3 pm on Friday, February 24 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 5:30pm. Private family interment will be Saturday, February 25.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to the University of the Pacific Varsity Water Polo program, https://www.joinpaf.org/giving/ Please select "Men's Water Polo" specifically for donations.

Dear Dr Halmi,
Words can not express my deep sympathy for you and your family. I did not know your son but I know others who did and a wonderful person he was.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost one pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

May Calvin's love continue to pour and shine down on you for forever and a day.
With deep sympathy,
Heidi Williams

Dear Jill and family,
I just couldn't believe what I was reading in the newspaper this morning. I have so many connections with the Halmis. You graduated (FHS) with Gayle. I had Lynn in my gym classes at Westlake; I had Travis in my gym classes at Chestnut Elementary. I just buried my husband on Monday. (He was a youthful 90.) Calvin reminded me so much of Patrick, my 22 year old grandson. My heart aches for you. God Bless!

Dr Halmi and family, I can't even imagine the pain you must be feeling right now. Your son was a wonderful person who touched the lives of so many, and I know he will be deeply missed. As it says in 2Cor 5:8 "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". I hope that brings some measure of peace and comfort during this difficult time. Your family is in my prayers.
