Davis-Rose Mortuary - American FallsCalvin Ray Dyer died on August 20, 2025, at the Portneuf Medical Center from complications of pneumonia. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.
Calvin was born on October 3, 1941, at the Bethany Deaconess Hospital in American Falls, Idaho to Curtman and Elsie Dyer. Although Calvin loved traveling and seeing new things, he lived his entire life in American Falls. He felt that since he had been born in a perfect place there was no reason to leave it. He attended school 1st through 12th grades in American Falls, graduating in 1959. After school he worked a variety of jobs in both service positions and agriculture. Fate took the form of his father’s illness and death which brought him back to work the family farm with his mother. He purchased the farm from his mother and worked adding more acreage. He celebrated paying off the loan even with some years of failed crops.
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtman and Elsie Dyer, his sister Ilene Sword, his first wife Pamela Dyer, and his niece Katrina Jones. He is survived by his son Ken Dyer, his wife Harriet Dyer, his niece Jean Spicer and grand nephews Jason, Ethen and Alan and grand niece Kathrine. Through his second marriage he welcomed two step children ,four grandchildren and best of all four great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in American Falls on September 6 (Saturday). Viewing will begin at 10:00 am and the funeral will begin at 11:00 am. A dinner will be served following the service and interment.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent and considerate care he received from the hands of the skilled and compassionate staff of Portneuf Medical Center’s ICU.
