Mr. Calvin Gilmore-Vick

Mr. Calvin "Babe" Gilmore Vick went home to be with the Lord on November 14th, 2024. Calvin was born on July 16th, 1983, to the late Calvin Gilmore Sr. and Gwendolyn Diane Vick Gilmore.
Calvin "Babe" was raised by his loving and supportive mother in Newport News Virginia. During his childhood, he developed a love for sports at the Greater Hampton Roads Boys and Girls Club. Calvin was educated in Newport News Public Schools and graduated from Warwick High School in 2002. In high school, Calvin was a valuable player of the Warwick Raiders JV and Varsity basketball teams.
Calvin was a supervisor at The Army and Air Force Exchange (AAFES) for 12 years. After leaving AAFES "Babe" enjoyed working for himself as a Pitmaster. He was very skilled at preparing and cooking various types of meats, using his very own smokers, pits, and grills. Calvin (Coach Babe) was the Vice President and coach for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) CB5 Vikings basketball team.
In 2023, Calvin was employed as a security officer with Newport News Public Schools. His most recent school was Heritage High School, where he was known as Officer Vick.
Calvin's life was marked by his commitment to family and community and his role as a husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. His family and friends will continue to cherish his legacy forever.
Calvin was a devoted husband and loving father. He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife, Sabrina Williams, his son, Caleb Samuel Gilmore, his daughter Kayla Williams, and grandson, Sayaun Whitlow. Calvin is the youngest sibling of Dewayne Vick Sr and Ramona Vick. Calvin was a supportive Uncle to his nieces and nephews, Ravin, Dewayne Jr, Bry, Dionte, Rakayla, Dazha, and Rihauna they all loved their "Uncle Babe", two aunts, Tina and Brenda Vick, two uncles, Joseph and Casey Vick, his mother and father in-law, Helen Peryea and Clarence Joe, his three brothers-in-law, Ronald Peryea, Vernon and Charles Williams and a host cousins and friends.
It is the desire of the Vick family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Mr. Calvin Gilmore-Vick has entrusted his final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
