Calvin Louis Harris

Calvin Louis Harris, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in Forney, TX, at the age of 80. Born on August 10, 1945, Calvin's journey through life was marked by joy, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

He is survived by his lovely bride of 50 years, Ruth Harris, whose love story is one for the ages. Together, they built a beautiful family that includes their children, Tina Hatfield and her husband Mark, Christi LaDawn and her husband Jeff, and their cherished grandchildren, Paige Nichole Clark and her husband Josh, affectionately known as "Big Man," and Jaxson Hatfield. Calvin's legacy continues to flourish through his great-grandchildren, Rian Painter and Jamisyn Deen, who brought immense joy to his later years. Also mourning his loss are his sister-in-law, Diana Harris, and brother-in-laws, Jim and Linda Smith and Charles and Peggy Smith, as well as a host of adoring nieces and nephews.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Franklin Harris Sr. and Lydia Harris, and his brother, Earl Franklin Harris Jr. His family takes comfort in knowing that he has reunited with them in eternal rest.

A proud veteran of the army, Calvin was a recipient of the Purple Heart, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. His work history and association involvement reflect his commitment to service and his strong sense of community.

From the tender age of 15, Calvin was a fixture in the grocery business, where his great personality and love for fun endeared him to customers and colleagues alike. His honorary demeanor and philosophy that he never met a stranger made him a beloved figure in his professional circle and beyond.

Calvin's interests were as diverse as his personality. He was known for his love of life, his infectious humor, and his friendly nature. Those who knew Calvin can attest to his loving spirit, often describing him as funny, friendly, and loving-words that only begin to capture the essence of a man who lived his life with such zest and warmth.

A Service will held 2:00pm, August 18, 2025, at Reflections-Rest Haven Rockwall. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 1:00pm.
