Calvin Henry Johnson, of Byron, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 22, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1942, in Port St. Joe, Florida, to the late Noah and Edna Johnson (Squires). Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after an honorable career. As an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent, he served tours in both Vietnam and Korea, exemplifying dedication, discipline, and patriotism throughout his military service. Calvin was married to the love of his life, Charlene Johnson (Mercer), for 35 wonderful years. A man of many talents and passions, Calvin found joy in hunting, fishing, working in his yard, upholstering furniture, and traveling. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always full when surrounded by family. In addition to his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by several siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Charlene; daughter, Shari Dregger of Fort Smith, AR; son, Jeffrey Johnson (Tonya) of Warner Robins; stepson, Randy Nix (Sydney) of Byron; stepdaughter, Rita Faye Griffin of Panama City Beach, FL; brothers-in-law, Bruce Mercer, Tim Mercer (Sheila) and Phillip Mercer (Janice), both of Macon; brothers, Clarence Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Bud Johnson; sisters, Suzie Hutto, Dimples Polofonis, and Eulene Traurig; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. A service celebrating Calvin's life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jay Lauritsen will officiate. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
