Carmelina V. "Millie" (Saverino) Fatica, age 105 of Erie, passed away peacefully, as she had always desired, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, just 12 days before her 106th birthday. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 15, 1919, the second daughter of the late Francesco and Emilia (Marchese) Saverino, both of whom were born in Sicily and later became American citizens.
She attended schools in Cleveland, OH and Erie where she graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1938. Her value of education extended to providing many educational opportunities for her children, grandchildren and seminarians.
Millie was a devoted mother and wife and confidant to Jack C. Fatica, whom she married on May 23, 1942, and with whom she celebrated 47 years together before Jack's death in 1989. Millie was not only a loved and respected mother, but also a proud and devoted grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Millie was generous with her time, talent and donated to many charities over the years. She was a prayerful and devoted Roman Catholic with steadfast faith and a special devotion to the Blessed Mary. She was a member of the Italian American Women's Association (IAWA). She served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and with many Ministries in Naples, FL and at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Erie.
Millie will be remembered for many things by her friends and family including that she was a life-long dog lover, was always willing to share her nuggets of wisdom in conversations, and she loved coffee, and chocolate.
Millie's family would like to extend great appreciation to the staff and residents of the Springhill Senior Independent-Living Community for their caring environment and thoughtful concern for Millie for almost 10 years. They made her feel like the Queen of Springhill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Fatica; son-in-law, Joseph Ott; great-grand daughter, Stephanie Petrone; and her siblings, Rocca Kennedy and Salvatore Saverino.
Survivors include her five children, Laura F. Ott, Emily V. Sertz (R. Ron), Jack L. Fatica (Kathy), Dr. Frank A. Fatica (Colleen) and Jeffery P. Fatica (Annie); 20 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 W 38th St., on Monday June 9th from 1:00pm until the time of a funeral mass at 2:00pm. Burial will be private in Trinity Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of choice.
Millie was one of the greatest of the Great Generation and like others from that generation she lived a life of personal responsibility, duty, honor, love, and faith.

There are not enough words to express what a wonderful person Millie was and feel so fortunate I had the great opportunity to know her. May all the wonderful memories help support her family and friends during these difficult times. I know she is taking great care of everyone in Heaven. Sending prayers.
