Candace Lynn (Smith) Walters, 79, of Frankfort, Indiana, formerly of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Wesley Manor. She was born on October 16, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Robert and Nadine Smith.
Candace was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pamela Glee Swank; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Florence Isabelle Cobrin (Isla).
Candace retired from Purdue University's Department of Computer Science, where she worked from 1984 until 2010. A proud Boilermaker, she was an enthusiastic supporter of Purdue Women's Basketball, holding season tickets for many years and even traveling with the team to Hawaii in 2017.
She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette and found great comfort and community there. Candace had a deep love for her dogs-Diego, Huey, and Joy-who brought her endless happiness and companionship over the years.
Candace is survived by her children: Rob Walters (Kelly) of Hudson, WI; Carmen Jones (Scott) of Monticello, IN; Eric Walters of Wingate, IN; and Cari Klotzsche (Brad) of Franklin, IN. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Candace spent the last four years at Wesley Manor, where she was cared for with great compassion. Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff for the love, kindness, and support they provided-especially in her final days.
A memorial service to celebrate Candace's life will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909.
