Carl P. Adams, 94, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 11:11 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on March 6, 1931, in Worth Township, Woodford County, IL, to Albert and Mary (Kiesewetter) Adams. He married Mary A. Krumholz on November 26, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of Metamora; children, Bryan Adams of Metamora and Carlyne Adams of Boerne, TX; granddaughters, Anna (Kyle Walker) Verchimak of Boulder, CO and Ava Verchimak of Plano, TX; brothers, Ray Adams of Indianapolis, IN and Bill (Dorothy) Adams of Metamora. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Adam Verchimak, and siblings, Amelia (Rudy) Noe, Esther (Ernie) Schaidle, Lillian (Arnold) Grebner, Joseph (Shirley) Adams, and Norbert (Wilma) Adams; and sister-in-law Marilyn Adams.
Carl graduated from Metamora High School and attended Bradley University. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, serving from 1951 – 1953. He started at Caterpillar as an Apprentice in 1949 and retired in 1993 as a Senior Project Engineer. He was a past chairman of the Woodford County Soil and Water Conservation District. He also served on the Metamora Village Board for 16 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora.
Carl enjoyed building and refinishing furniture, making stain glass windows, and raising roses. He also loved to go antiquing.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until mass time. Burial of Ashes will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Open Arms Food Pantry, 1200 West Mount Vernon Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
