Carl R. Becker, Jr., age 84, a resident of Eagle River, WI, passed away on January 3, 2024 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Carl was born on October 28, 1939 to Carl and Mary Lou Becker in Milwaukee, WI. He attended Marquette High School and graduated from University of Wisconsin - Madison with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. He entered military service flying for the US Navy. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served until his discharge in 1972 as Lieutenant Commander, USNR.
Carl then changed direction and landed in Los Angeles, CA where he served 8 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Upon the sudden death of both parents, he returned home to Wisconsin and began a 25-year career in the food industry owning and operating restaurants in the Northern tourist area in Minocqua, Manitowish Waters and Lake Tomahawk. Carl was never happier than when he worked and performed as host, mixologist, waiter or cook.
He was a proud son, brother and uncle.
In 2012, he quietly migrated to Loyal, WI and the Marshfield Clinic while becoming an active member of the Loyal Legion Post 175. In 2021 Carl retired to Eagle River, WI where he lived close to family. He is survived by four nephews: Chris (Kim), John, Kevin, Dan (Gabriella) and Scott (Melissa) and 11 grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Mary Lou and brothers: Lawrence and John.
A memorial mass will he held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River, WI followed by Military Honors and inurnment at 2:00 PM at the Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw, WI
