Gus was a 2020 graduate of Three Lakes High School and a graduate of Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI with a degree in criminal justice. He worked as a corrections officer for Oneida Co. and formerly of Calumet Co.
Gus married his high school sweetheart, McKenzie, on June 11, 2022 in Eagle River, WI. He was a collector of WWII memorabilia and enjoyed traveling to the Florida Keys. He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River, WI. Above all he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beloved dogs: Finley and Aggie.
He is survived by his wife: McKenzie Holzbauer of Eagle River, WI; parents: Steven and Jodi Holzbauer of Eagle River, WI; brother: Samuel (MacKenzie) Holzbauer of New Ulm, MN; maternal grandparents: Robert and Claudia Doman of Eagle River, WI; paternal grandfather: John Holzbauer of Ohio; paternal grandparents: Terry and Kitty Colligan of Waupaca WI; father and mother-in-law: Brian (Patti) Frankenberg; sister-in-law: Madisen (Julio Ridgley) Frankenberg and their son, Remington Frankenberg of Eagle River, WI; and grandmother-in-law: Carol Dart. He is further survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends which he loved deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River, WI. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church.
