Carl E. "Bud" Cattaneo, 91, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at The Good Life. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, September 12, 2025, at West Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Trone, officiating.

Carl Edmond "Bud" Cattaneo was born to Charles and Pansy (Dorr) on June 23, 1934, in in Bonanza, Arkansas. He was raised in Bonanza, where he worked picking strawberries, blueberries and beans as a young boy. He graduated from Hackett High School in 1952. While in high school Bud excelled in sports lettering in both basketball and baseball for the Hackett "Hornets"! Following his graduation he relocated with his family to Carlsbad, NM where his father was transitioning from coal mining to potash mining.

Bud and Glenna (Hammack)) Cattaneo were married on December 9, 1953, in Carlsbad. For 30 years he was employed as a Cable Splicer for General Telephone and retired in 1984. Following his retirement from GTE Bud worked for Ed Dunagan, building homes and various other projects. He then began what would turn out to be a long career with Resource Management.

In his spare time Bud loved quail and elk hunting, fly fishing with his friends in northern New Mexico every year, woodworking, gardening, as well as harvesting and picking up pecans from his well-cared for trees.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Charlene Terry.

Bud is survived by his wife Glenna; son Mark and wife Marian Cattaneo, of Carlsbad, NM and daughter Sherry and husband Hershel Stone, of Loving, NM; grandchildren, Matt and wife Christy Cattaneo of Albuquerque, NM, Manda and husband Jody Anderson of Seminole, TX and Michelle Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM; great grandchildren are Jacque and Scarlett Cattaneo, Mattie and Aidan Anderson, Gabriel and Jacob Vasquez.
