With heavy but thankful hearts, the family of Carl A. Elkins announces his peaceful passing into God's arms on August 26, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 85.

Born to Ruby Amanda (Mann) and Ira Eric Elkins on April 20, 1940, Carl spent his early childhood in Kansas City, MO, before moving to Springdale, AR, where his father owned a shoe store. He graduated from Springdale High School, then attended the University of Arkansas before leaving to enter the workforce. Prior to starting his storied 30-year career in sales at Kraft Foods, Carl dedicated summers to working in the Forestry Service in Idaho as well as serving as a YMCA camp counselor in Maryland. He enjoyed sharing stories of these adventures, which helped shape his love for kids and the outdoors.

He was also proud to have served in our military as a U.S. Army Reservist and remained a dedicated patriot throughout his life.

On July 26, 1970, Carl married the love of his life, Janet (Hoelscher), in Winfield, KS. Throughout their 55 years of marriage, their example of love and sacrifice was evident to all. They first lived in the Kansas City area before he was transferred to St. Joseph. There they welcomed daughters Jennifer and then Amanda, and eventually permanently settled in Olathe, KS, in 1987. He enjoyed watching their children grow up there and was later thrilled to welcome two sons-in-law, whom he thought of as sons, and six much-loved grandchildren into his family.

Carl will forever be known and loved for his quick wit, ability to connect with anyone, big heart, and twinkle in his eye. The room was never empty (or quiet) with him in it, and any one of his family or friends could fill a book of good stories and fond memories with him. He cared for others in need and followed Christ by quietly serving others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Amanda (Mann) and Ira Eric Elkins, deceased infant (stillborn) son David Edwin, as well as brothers Jerry Clyde and Marvin Ira Elkins. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and their children, Jennifer Proctor (Peter) and Mandy Wilson (Garret), as well as grandchildren Benjamin David, Sarah Jo, and Grace Ann Proctor, and Lukas Martin, Graham Harold, and Joshua Carl Wilson. He was honored to be a beloved uncle, godparent, and friend to many.

In keeping with Carl's genuine desire to support and care for all his family and friends, those wishing to send contributions or flowers in his memory are encouraged to donate to a meaningful cause, charity, church, or organization near and dear to them.

Carl's legacy will continue through the memories shared with his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. His presence will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, 320 College Street, Winfield, KS. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
