Carl and I served with the 2/503 Airborne Inf. C.T. B. Co. On Okinawa. He had a great sense of humor and was true Paratrooper. May his memory be a blessing. TJJ sadly learned today of his passing.

My name is Italio Hymer from Fizz's home town of Hamilton , Ohio .
To Carl's family ,I'm so sorry for your loss , you have lost a treasure in Carl .
The first time I met Carl was in and old friend of his here in Hamilton Dan Shwarzt's Jewelry store in the early 90's . Carl had brought some 1715 coins and a small chest with unprocessed coins in a clump . I bought a few coins and shared a few stories . and so began Carl and my friendship . I'll miss him .

I loved Fizz´s stories...and he had so many. When I was going through cancer treatments I asked him if he had any advice and he said to make sure I let every member of my care team know that I was gonna beat this thing and to believe it. I´ll miss you Fizz

Carl and I became partners in our treasure salvage business and I have many memories of working the 1715 Treasure Fleet with him and also speaking with him at our sunken treasure workshops

One of my favorite memories of Carl is when we were out working one of the wrecks from the 1715 Treasure Fleet and we were having lunch. I looked over and Carl was eating a sandwich that was a bunch of cookies between two slices of white bread.

Something I will always remember about Carl is when I first went back to school to do the prerequisite courses for my Master's Degree and I could not afford the text books for my classes. Of course somehow Carl found out and two days later he met me at school. He took me to the bookstore and bought my textbooks for me. I would not be in graduate school at Johns Hopkins and Medicine if it was not for Fizz's kindness and generosity

My first memory of Carl is when I was helping Bob and Margaret Weller with their sunken treasure workshops and Carl was one of the speakers. Everyone really liked him and he enthralled everyone with his tales searching for and finding sunken treasure.
