Mr. Carl Willie Harper, Jr., 85, passed on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born May 7, 1937 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Robert Harper and Hester Alexander Sherrill.
Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, he attended R. A. Clement. He was employed with Fieldcrest Cannon Mills as a supervisor of 40 plus years, Advance Auto for 16 years part-time, Rustin's Furniture for 25 years part-time, and retired after 18 years from Rowan County Head Start as a maintenance worker.
A member of Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Cleveland, he served as a Trustee, a member of the Men's Booster Club, Men's Ministry, and the Lay Council.
In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Harper (Barbara), Jerry Sherrill and Bobby Sherrill (Louise); sisters, Doris Cuthbertson, Helen Ellis and Betty Sherrill Thompson (Alfred).
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Yvonne Jordan Harper of the home; daughters, Jacquline Jordan of Salisbury, Carla Harper Moody of Kannapolis, and Alesia Harper of Mooresville; grandchildren raised in the home, Latoya Jordan of Salisbury and Alaysia Harper of Faith; 4 additional grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, David Sherrill (Isolina) of Garyburg, VA, Carrie Sherrill and Lavonia Davis both of Salisbury; sisters-in-law, Murtis Sherrill, Lila Partee, Carolyn Lawson, Judy Jordan, and Frances Jordan; brothers-in-law, Pete Ellis, Nathaniel Jordan, Henry Jordan, Cecil Jordan, William Farris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
