Carl Johnson Obituary

BRISTOL

Carl R. Johnson, 71, of Rocky Hill passed away unexpectedly on April 09, 2024.

Carl was born in Bristol and attended Bristol Central High School before enlisting in the Navy. He reached the rank of BT3 and was awarded the National Defense, National Intelligence, Vietnam Service Medals as well as many commendations for his service for his country. He deployed on the USS Basilone (DDG-122), and USS Hawkins (DD-873), he was a member of the 10th Special Forces Group and reenlisted during the Mideast crisis. He also served in the National Guard and was a member of the National Institute of Power Engineers, lifetime member of the NRA and produced Sylvia's cooking on the Nutmeg Public Access TV channel. After completing his military service, worked for the State of CT-Rocky Hill VA Hospital as an Engineer in the Power Plant, retiring after 48 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Msgt. Eugene R. Johnson and Rita Y. Veilleux-Johnson, and his brother John Johnson. He leaves behind his three sisters Lisa Richards, Gail Sullivan and Cheryl Casado, his brother Bruce Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held, Saturday, April 27th 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. Cook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
