In Loving Memory of Carl Leonard
October 4, 1936 - May 23, 2025
Carl Leonard lived and played large from his youth right up to his last days. He was a man who met life head-on, full of energy, pride, and heart.
A proud veteran, Carl served in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne, 3rd Armored Division where he was one of the first to be Ranger-qualified. He was stationed in Germany during the Cold War, where he served as a tanker-commander, gunner, and driver. His service was a point of deep pride and honor throughout his life.
At just 21 years old, Carl returned home and began a successful career with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. There, he worked with excellence, forged lifelong friendships, and retired at age 50. In true Carl fashion, he made the most of every moment in the nearly 39 years that followed.
One of his favorite sayings was:
"You play the hand you're dealt."
And that's exactly what he did. Carl faced the challenges of aging and illness with dignity, grace, and strength. He lived life on his own terms, all the way through to the end.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lee Leonard of Okeechobee; his brother, Monk Leonard, and his three sons and their families of West Palm Beach; his brother, Bill Little and his wife, Jeanie Little; nieces and nephews; five great nephews; and one great, great nephew.
There will be no services at this time.
