Carl G. Monk, 81, of Naples, FL passed away from coronary artery disease on July 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Helen (Monta) Monk, his mother, Mary (Gutierrez) Monk, and his stepfather Victor Monk. He is survived by his sister, Debbie and her husband, Patrick Couwenberg of Temecula, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was born on August 24, 1943, in Los Angles, CA. Following three years of college, he enlisted in the US Navy in early 1966. Upon graduation from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA (Chinese Mandarin), he served aboard a Liberty class ship in the Vietnam theater and received the Vietnam service medal. He spent the remainder of his enlistment at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, MD.
Carl was part owner and general manager of the radio station WAYV in Atlantic City, NJ for several years. Following the sale of the station, he owned and operated his golf specialties business, Think Tank.
Carl and Helen married in Sept., 1971 and spent 46 wonderful years together in Brigantine, NJ. They enjoyed many ski trips, travel to Europe with friends and lots and lots of golf. He truly lost the love of his life when Helen passed in April, 2017.
Carl was proud of his military service and for the past 16 years was an avid supporter of veterans and active duty military through the charity, Operation First Response. He always acknowledged any veteran he chanced to meet.
No services are planned at this time. Donations in his memory may be made to Operation First Response, 20037 Dove Hill Rd., Culpepper, VA. 22701.

Carl was a wonderful uncle to have. Always an interesting conversationalist, talented, extremely funny and quick to laugh, full of love to give to us and especially our beloved Helen. I shall always remember him. Carl, have fun with Helen again as you play golf and ski in heaven. Love, Rob Peterman
