Carl Anthony Myles was born on March 2nd, 1956, to the late Carl Hardy Myles and Carrie Hayes Myles. He grew up in a big family, where his parents instilled in him, a deep love for God and a strong work ethic. Carl's journey with Christ began at the Langley Avenue Church of God in Christ under Pastor EJ Morris. After graduating from Nicholas Senn High School in 1973, Carl started his career at Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital, where he worked as a Patient Transporter for 17 years.
In 1990, Carl relocated to Topeka, KS, where he became known as the "Singing Bus Driver," driving buses for Topeka Public Schools and Topeka Transit Bus Company. He also drove for Arrowhead Charter, arranging bus trips for the Washburn University Ichabod's basketball team, eventually retiring from his bus driving days. He was last employed by Concrete Supply.
Known for his devotion, humor, and joyful spirit, Carl never met a stranger. He was a hardworking man with a plethora of skills and talents, from being a dedicated employee, mechanic, and self-proclaimed computer technician to a master of the barbecue grill and a skilled heavy vehicle operator. He loved bowling, cutting grass, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Carl's generous nature led him to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A true Comforter in Chief.
Carl's spiritual journey led him to the outreach ministry called PALS (Prayers Answered Lives Saved), where he ministered to others struggling with substance abuse. Committed to his faith, he pursued theology studies at New Mount Zion Baptist Church and delivered many sermons as a minister. He graduated from the New Beginning Church School of Theology and became an Ordained Pastor. He was an active member of the New Life Baptist Church where he served as an associate pastor. Carl was over the Men's Ministry and the pulpit conductor. He was also an active member of the Ebony support group District 8 of Topeka, KS., Topeka Baptist Ministers Union and the Topeka concerned Clergy ministers' alliance.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Carrie Myles, siblings Jesse James Church, Sean Sanford, Carolyn Faye Myles, granddaughter Xymora C. Johnson, and niece Kacia McHenry.
His memory will be forever treasured by his devoted and loving wife Desiree L. Myles of Topeka, KS, his children Tywaun L. Gregory (Carrie) of Bakersfield, CA, Cher'Londa A. Davis (Frederick) of Topeka, KS, Dominique S. Myles of Phoenix, AZ and Donielle S. Myles of Arlington, TX; his stepchildren, Michael D. Baker (Megan) of Las Vegas, NV, Julius R. Washington of Topeka, KS; Carl's twin Marilyn A. Curry (Melvin) of Anniston, AL, siblings Mattie E. Kirby (Kasey), Ethel Henderson, Charles M. Myles (Tina), Ronnie E. Myles (Kathy) of Anniston, AL; Lawrence M. Myles of Chicago, IL, Father in law Alfonso Baker of Flint, MI, Mother in law Carolyn M. Baker of Mt. Seay (Larry) of Flint, MI, the mother of his children Charmaine Johnson (David) of Topeka, KS; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and special friends.
