Carl Smith Jr., 79, transitioned on April 20th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 6, 1944, to proud parents Carl Smith SR. and Doris Louise Williams Smith in Strong AR. and is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his brother Van Smith.
During his formative years, Carl attended Gardner High School in Strong, Arkansas and upon graduation, pursued his higher education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. After being drafted to serve his country into the United States Army, he became a member of the esteemed 101st Airborne Division, bravely serving his country in the Vietnam War in 1965, distinguishing himself as a skilled marksman. Following his military service, it was during his time working in El Dorado, that he crossed paths in Junction City with the love of his life Linda Henderson, and on November 23, 1968, Carl married his beloved wife.
Carl was a dedicated member of his church Mount Calvary Baptist Church. His dedication to his faith was unwavering, as he served on the deacon board and as a Sunday school teacher at his church. Carl also embarked on a fulfilling career as a lab technician at Columbian Chemicals until his retirement. He cherished his time with his family, enjoying traveling, camping adventures, and nurturing his garden. An avid outdoorsman, Carl found solace in hunting, fishing, and he had a passion for baseball and softball. His athleticism was evident even in his youth, as he excelled as an All-State high school basketball player, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Smith of El Dorado, AR, and their children Bryan (Karen) Smith of Hot Springs, AR, and Nikole Smith of El Dorado, AR. his sister Carolyn Williams of El Dorado, AR, brother Troyce (Keeya) Smith of Brusly, LA, sister-in-law Paula Cotton of El Dorado, AR, as well as grandchildren Kimberly Williams, Destinee Sensley, Dynastie Cooper, and great-grandchildren Brayland Cleveland, Tyler, and Elijah Williams. He also leaves behind a God Daughter Lanette Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
