Carl Earnest Smith, of
Wellington, Kansas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the age of 73.
Carl was born the son of Earl and Gwendolyn (Graves) Smith on August 22, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas.
A devoted and loving soul, Carl was a beacon of unwavering dedication, loyalty, and courage. His life was significantly marked by his supportive nature, tenacity, and an infectious love for life that touched everyone he encountered. A courageous soldier, a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, a fishing enthusiast, and a committed family man, Carl's life was as diverse as it was fulfilling.
Carl's journey started at Campus High School, graduating in 1970, and soon after, he stepped into the brave shoes of a soldier, serving his country in the US Army from 1972 to 1974. Showing his undying dedication, Carl embarked on a fulfilling career at Boeing, contributing significantly to the Aircraft Supply Chain. Even in his retirement, Carl's passion for work led him to O'Reilly Auto Parts, where he continued to make a difference.
Amidst all his career accomplishments, Carl's love for the outdoors had a special place in his heart. He loved the lake - camping, fishing, and boating. These were the times when Carl's spirit truly shone, creating countless memories with family and friends.Yet above all, Carl's greatest achievement and joy was his family. He wore the titles of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with immense pride. His love for his family was a radiant light that guided them through life's winding paths.
Carl is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Smith of
Wellington, KS; children: Shannan (Riki) Martin of Waurika, OK; Dawn (Shane) McCallie of Wichita, KS; Trista (Chris) Beard of Los Angeles, CA; Shawn (Nichole) Beard of Houston, TX; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and many beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gwendolyn Smith; brother, Bill Smith; and sister, Mary Nuss.
