Carl Lloyd Yaws, 85, of Yoakum, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2023, in Cypress, Texas. He was born on October 1, 1938, in Yoakum, Texas.
Carl was a devout Christian and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a beloved father and husband who cherished spending time with his family. Carl had a passion for "punching numbers" for his next book and was a prolific writer, having published over 1000 technical publications and 36 engineering books throughout his career.
Carl's career spanned several decades. He worked at Texas Instruments from 1968 to 1975 before becoming a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, where he taught from 1975 to 2015. His dedication to his field and his commitment to education made a lasting impact on his students and colleagues.
In addition to his professional achievements, Carl was a graduate of Sinton High School and went on to pursue higher education at Texas A&I in Kingsville and the University of Houston, where he earned his Ph.D.
Carl was a member of Woodlands Church of Christ, where he found solace and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annette Yaws; his son, Kent Yaws; his daughter, Sarah Yaws Mills, and her husband, Trey Mills; his granddaughter, Chelsea Allison, and her husband, Colin Allison; his great-grandchildren, Kingston Allison and Knox Allison; and his sister, Liz Craddock. He was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Yaws, and his grandson, Brandon Yaws.
Carl's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, and his countless contributions to the field of chemical engineering.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 7th at McNutt Funeral Home located at 1703 Porter Road in Conroe, Texas with a public visitation for family and friends beginning at 1:00 PM.
