Donna Buchanan Sterling, of Kingwood, Texas passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas. Born on August 17, 1943, in Orange, Texas to George and Eva Buchanan, Donna was remembered for her joyous spirit. She attended school in Port Neches, graduating from Port Neches-Groves High School. Donna attended Lamar University and was a devoted Administrative Assistant in the Oil and Gas industry, for companies in the Golden Triangle and Houston. She retired from Chevron in Houston. Because of Donna’s tireless work ethic, she was often regarded as a workaholic who dedicated herself fully to her career and family.

Throughout her life, Donna exemplified a commitment to health and wellness. She took pride in leading a healthy lifestyle, which included daily walks and regular attendance at fitness classes. Her passion for healthy eating accompanied her fitness pursuits, and she was known for taking excellent care of her skin. Friends and family will fondly recall her infectious laughter and the lightheartedness she brought to every situation, making her an uplifting presence in their lives.

Donna is survived by her beloved son, Grant Sterling, and her cherished grandchildren, Tristian Neal, Ariel Sterling, and Erin Sterling. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Robert Buchanan, and his wife, Jackie, of Kingwood, her sisters-in-law, Linda Darst and her husband, Neal, and Carol Litton and her husband, Bill. She will be missed by her nieces, Gina Perry, Karen Youngblood, Suzanne Greenville, and her husband, Steve, Amy Horelica and her husband, Vernon, Jill Atwood and her husband, Michael, and Christi Silcox and nephew, Charlie Webb, along with several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving family, Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Sterling, whose memory she carried with her throughout her life, as well as her parents, George and Eva Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Serena Stakes and Virginia Youngblood, and her brother, Donald Buchanan, brothers-in-law, Ralph Youngblood and Charles Stakes, nieces, Linda Weber and Beth Buchanan, and nephew, Wesley Stakes.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Donna Buchanan Sterling will be held on September 22, 2025, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. The service will commence at 1:00 PM, with family and friends invited to gather to honor her remarkable life.

Donna will be deeply missed, but her legacy of joy, health, and resilience will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Honor of Donna to a local animal shelter, as Donna loved and cared for animals with great passion.
