Beverly Gail Krohn went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2025 while living in McKinney, Texas.
She was born on September 14, 1935 in Paducah, Kentucky. She went on to marry Charles Davis and to them were born her two children, Beverly Nell Lange and Lawrence Riley Davis.
Driven by her compassion for children, she began her career in special education with NISD. She went on to obtain her master’s degree and furthered her career by becoming principal of Central Middle School and culminating as Superintendent of Nederland Independent School District. She was employed by NISD for a total of 43 years.
Gail was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Nederland where she played as the pianist and organist. She was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa; Delta Kappa Gamma, Iota Rho Chapter; Texas Association of School Administration; Nederland Educational Foundation; Texas Congress of PTA; Catholic Charities Board of Directors; National Association of School Administrators; Nederland Rotary Club; Juvenile Probation Advisory Board; United Way Board of Port Arthur; Child Care Contract System Advisory Board; Dean of Education, Advisory Board, Lamar University; Commissioner’s Advisory Board, Texas Education Agency; Citizen’s Advisory Panel, Beaumont Industrial Park.
Other recognitions include Lamar University Hall of Fame, 2002; Region V Superintendent of the Year, 2007; October 21, 2003 declared Gail Krohn Day in the city of Nederland; November 11, 2009 declared as a day to honor Gail Krohn in the city of Nederland.
She is survived by her sister, Laura Tatum of Nederland; her daughter, Nell Lange of McKinney; grandchildren, David and Charlotte Hess of Farmersville, Damon and Heather Davis of Fannett, Laura Lange of Carrollton, Heather Long of Nederland, Adam and Misty Dantin of Groves; 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Lawrence and Beverly Alexander as well as her son, Lawrence Davis.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H. Nederland, Texas, on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm with the funeral service to begin at 3:00pm with Rev. Micah Howell, Officiant.
