Carla L. Butenhoff

Carla Louise Butenhoff, age 67, of the Fond du Lac Band of Anishinaabe, passed away on November 20, 2025, at her home in Cloquet, Minnesota. She was born on June 18, 1958, to Clarence and Ione (Christenson) Aiken and was raised and attended school in Cloquet. She furthered her education at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.

Carla was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Lockling Jr., and she made raising their three boys her full time job. The family made their home in the Floodwood area for a number of years. As the boys grew, she began working with the Fond du Lac Reservation and went on to hold various positions within the Band. She also served as a bartender at Mike's Bar. Carla's marriage with Bob ended and she was later united in marriage to Bernie Butenhoff. Together, they enjoyed camping and had recently leased a lot near Iron River, Wisconsin prior to his passing in May of 2025. Carla also enjoyed traveling with her family for the biannual trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. A highlight from their most recent trip in September was seeing a play at the Sphere. As much as she enjoyed her adventures, Carla also appreciated the comforts of home and was content in her own company.

Carla is remembered by her mother, Ione LeDoux; sons, Robert "Bob" (Sally) Lockling III , Keelan (Jodie) Lockling, and Dale (Jessica) MacLachlan; grandchildren, Harley, Emily, Hunter, and Kiara; siblings, Clarence "Chip" (Annette) Aiken, Cynthia (Scott) Henzie, Rodney Aiken, and Tina (Clayton) Warner; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

A celebration of Carla's life is being planned for the Spring of 2026.
