Donald Merle Rowe

Donald Merle Rowe, 88, of Esko, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025.

He was born on July 30, 1937, to Charles and Helmi Rowe in Cloquet, Minnesota. He was raised in Thomson Township and graduated from Esko High School. Don then served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard and later worked on the Great Lakes Ore Boats.

On August 2, 1968, Don married Barbara Korkala. They celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Don retired after working 32 years at Widdes in Esko.

While raising his family in the home his father built, Don farmed dairy and beef cattle, planted grain fields and seedling trees; he liked working in the woods and using his sawmill. Don was close to his grandsons and enjoyed participating in their many activities. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he served on the church board.

Don will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; his children, Rebecca Bauer and Paul Rowe; his grandsons, Benjamin and William Bauer; and his brother, Richard Rowe.

He was preceded in death by his brothers James and Robert Rowe.

Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until the 1:30pm funeral service on Friday, November 21 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Esko. Refreshments to follow the service, with burial at Esko Apostolic Cemetery.
