Carla Margarete Esmiller, 50, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 19, 1974, in Saginaw, Michigan, Carla was the cherished daughter of MaryJudith Tijerina and Raymond Tijerina Jr.

Carla was a 1992 graduate of Arthur Hill High School and spent nearly three decades with Capital Funds Group, where she wore many hats with dedication, professionalism, and a warm, steady presence.

More than anything, Carla's heart belonged to her family. She was a loving mother to Gabriel Esmiller (Bethany Colon) and Jacob Esmiller, and a deeply devoted grandmother to Evelyn and Madelyn. Her bond with her granddaughters brought her immeasurable joy, and she never missed an opportunity to create magical moments with them - especially through her love of holiday crafting.

She is survived by her sons Gabriel and Jacob, granddaughters Evelyn and Madelyn, her mother MaryJudith Tijerina, father Raymond Tijerina Jr., sister Carey Tijerina, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dominick Anthony Esmiller, whose memory she carried with her every day.

Carla found beauty and meaning in the stars - she loved astrology, suns and moons, and the quiet wisdom they represented. She was a creative soul who enjoyed making crafts, attending concerts, and immersing herself in music that spoke to her spirit. Her vibrant energy and laughter filled every room she entered.

Carla's light touched so many. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and creativity - a reminder to cherish time with family, find wonder in the everyday, and never stop dancing to the music of life.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 4:00pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 154 W Government Ave, Norfolk, VA 23503.

In honor of Carla, look to the sky, listen to your favorite song, and hold your loved ones close - just as she would have wanted.
