Deborah Cecile Rutledge, 68, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 31, 1956, in Lumberton, North Carolina, Deborah was the beloved daughter of Alma E. Butler and Wilton D. Ganus. She later made Virginia Beach her home, where she raised her family and built a life centered around love, laughter, and togetherness.

A devoted stay-at-home mother, Deborah poured her heart into raising her two daughters, Adrian Tiedeman (William Sr.) and Melanie Rutledge. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: William Jr. and Makayla Tiedeman, and Cierra Rutledge and Savannah Loomis, along with her great-granddaughters Maisie Tuel and Sunnie Tuel, who brought her endless joy in her later years.

Deborah was known for her warm spirit, her deep love for her family, and her ability to make any gathering feel like home. Whether it was sharing a meal-especially if it involved shrimp at one of her favorite restaurants-or listening to her favorite music, Deborah found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving sister, Diana Hubbard, her cherished uncle, David Ganus, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma E. Ganus and Wilton D. Ganus.

Deborah was a proud graduate of First Colonial High School, and though she never sought the spotlight, her impact on those around her was profound and lasting.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Deborah's life will be held at a later date.

Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
