Carla Lea Orr, 54, of Jefferson, SD died June 27, 2025, at her home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Tuesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Carla was born on January 19, 1971, in St. Paul, NE to Donald and Florence (Melhorne) Hadenfeldt. She grew up in Cairo and graduated from Centura High School in 1989. She continued her education at University of Nebraska Kearney in 1993, Creighton in 2004, and earned her MS from Western Governors University in 2014.
On April 25, 1998, Carla married William “Bill” Orr II in Kearney, NE. After which the couple lived in Omaha, NE. Where Carla worked at Alegent Health and Nebraska Medicine. The couple moved to Des Moines and continued her nursing career. She served as clinical director of medical surgical services in Sioux City and then worked at UnityPoint Health.
Carla was full of life and enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, traveling, and hiking. She loved to go to Sturgis every summer with her husband. She also enjoyed reading, baking, singing with her sisters, and playing with her pets. She was very passionate about her career and empowering women.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Orr of Jefferson, SD; children: twins: Cooper James and Wynsloe Marie, triplets: Emerson Ray, Colbie Louise and India Lea all living at home; siblings: Dawn (Randall) Lewandowski of Seward, NE, Jeffery (Fusako) Hadenfeldt of Cairo, NE, Darra Hargrave of Lincoln, NE, Wendi (Myron) Schaefer of Hastings, NE; parents-in-law, William I and Jean Orr of Maple Grove, MN; sisters-in-law: Chris Orr (Nick Clarke) of Portland, OR, Jackie Orr (John Chitwood) of Maplewood, MN; nieces and nephews: Seth Lewandowski, Taylor (Jessie) Lewandowski, Sarah (Jordan Conner) Lewandowski, Luke Hadenfeldt, Jessica (Daniel) Clough, Alex Hargrave, Andrew Hargrave, Jordan Burhoop, Turner Schaefer, Emily Schaefer, Alexa Clarke, Natalie (Nick) Burton, Maxine Chitwood, and Charlotte Chitwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Blue Cat.
