Carla Ann Wall Scudellari, 64, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and proud attorney, passed away on December 1, 2025, in
Saratoga, California. Just as she lived her life, she left this world surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
Carla was born on June 20, 1961, in San Francisco to Dr. John and Nancy Wall. She grew up in the community of Saratoga, one she would love for a lifetime. She attended Sacred Heart for grammar school and Saratoga High School, developing the warm smile and engaging personality that endeared her to so many. Sweet and gentle, Carla was also a quietly intense competitor. Her academic drive and love of writing earned her an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a law degree from Santa Clara University. In a feat of incredible determination, she completed her law degree with four young children at home-including toddler twins. This grit extended to her personal and professional pursuits as well.
Carla's true center was always her family. Her life changed forever when she met a young man named Rich Scudellari. That meeting sparked a 40-year love story. They built a life in Saratoga defined by faith, deep loyalty, and joy.
Carla's devotion to family was on full display during football weekends. She anchored the family's Stanford tailgates with her famous "All-Time Great" sandwiches. Once the game started, she would join the family in the stadium, happily opening a book to read while the game played out around her-content simply to be present with those she loved. But when her own sons took the field, the books were set aside for an intense, motherly focus on every play.
Inside her home, she cultivated a spirit of warmth, connection and family pride. Carla's children happily remember her tradition of directing "dish duty" after family dinners-assigning two family members to the sink so the rest could join her in swing dancing around the kitchen to the tunes of Stevie Wonder. She was a woman who reveled in the happiness of her children and the unity of her household.
Carla was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Scudellari, who passed away only weeks prior; her parents, Dr. John and Nancy Wall; her in-laws, Richard and Alice Scudellari; and her niece, Tatum Lamb.
Carla is survived by her children Loretta (Jonathan) Hicks of Burlingame, California; Richard Jr. (Mary) Scudellari of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Samuel (Alyssa) Scudellari of Nashville, Tennessee; and Nicholas (Kendra) Scudellari of Nolensville, Tennessee; and her grandchildren Henry and Emma Hicks; Colette, Elizabeth, Georgiana, and John Scudellari; Evelyn and Ivy Scudellari; and Remi Scudellari.
She is also survived by her siblings Joseph (Susan) Wall, Mary Ann (Geoffrey) Lamb, Loretta (James) Stephenson, and Dr. William (Kristine) Wall. The Scudellari Family-Christopher (Gail) Scudellari, David (Ana) Scudellari, and Paul (Anna Marie) Scudellari-became a cherished second family to Carla, embracing her as their own.
