Carlton Smith Curry (72), Took final rest on February 24, 2024. Affectionally, known by many different nicknames: " Butch, CC, Chief, and Too Sweet;" but, everyone knew him to be the same joyful and uplifting person with a kind, generous spirit.
Carlton Smith Curry was born on November 26, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the parentage of Dr. Gwendolyn & Artis Carl Curry, grandparents of Deacon Harrison & Pearlena Smith; who instilled a sense of hard work and ambition early in life, and Aunt Violet Cox; which all have preceded him in passing.
Carlton Smith Curry was well known and respected in the Motor Coach industry which he worked in for over 50 years. He first owned his own company, Tours International. From there, his career covered every aspect of the industry from being President of Georgia Coachlines to Operation Manager for Adventure Tours in Sumiton, Alabama. In addition, he was Operation Manager, and driver for Cline Tours in Birmingham, Alabama.
Most recently, he was a driver for Kingsman Coach in Conley, Georgia alongside his wife, Lisa. Together, they made a team that left strong impressions on people, and they were requested many times by repeat customers because of their love for each other which spilled out onto everyone around them. He was a mentor to many coming up in the Motor Coach world and made a huge impact on the industry as a whole. However, you would never know all that he had accomplished if you waited for him to tell you because he was such a humble man. He was described by a co-worker as having left an "incredible and inspiring legacy" and went on to say that he was "an incredible coach operator with an amazing and unique humor which filled the office...Butch's loss is felt deeply by everyone as his smile and life's conversations have impacted our lives in so many positive ways."
Carlton Smith Curry could often be found helping at church, the radio station that was started by the family and Harrison Smith Record Shop that was family-owned as well. In fact, he got his first experience behind the wheel of a bus by driving the church buses.
Carlton "Butch" Curry leaves an empty space in our hearts that can never be filled by anyone else. He was one of a kind and an all-around wonderful human being that will be forever missed by those blessed enough to have known him.
Carlton "Butch" Curry leaves behind the love of his life: Lisa Curry, Sister :Ange'Lia Curry, Nephew: Harrison Curry, and his inherited family through marriage.
