In Loving Memory of Carmen Ochoa Berriel
Sunrise: November 23, 1947 Sunset: May 19, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved Carmen Ochoa Berriel. She was born in Michoacan, Mexico, and lived in Provo, Utah. A woman whose warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving a legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering strength.
Carmen was the heart of our family, the steady light that guided us through joy and sorrow. Her love was unconditional, her smile ever-present, and her arms always open. She never judged, only listened, and in her presence, we all felt safe, understood, and deeply cherished.
She had a gift for nurturing others, not only with her words and wisdom but with the food she made, each dish a labor of love that brought us together time and time again. Her kitchen was where memories were made, where laughter echoed, and where love was served in every bite.
To know her was to be welcomed, embraced, and seen. She hugged with her whole heart and guided with grace. Her warmth and compassion reached beyond family, touching neighbors, friends, and strangers alike.
As the scripture says in Isaiah 66:13,
"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
Carmen truly lived a life of love, compassion, and gentle comfort.
She is survived by her eight children, who were her pride and joy: Frank Berriel, George Berriel, Olga Berriel, Rudolfo Berriel, John Berriel, Carmen Berriel, Lorraina Rebecca Berriel, and July Berriel.
She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren (27), and great-grandchildren (8), whose lives she helped shape with love, care, and endless encouragement. Each of them carries a piece of her heart.
Carmen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julio Berriel; her father, Ceferino Ochoa Estrada; and her mother, Rebeca Ochoa Madrigal. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with them in peace and love.
She was the root of our family tree, the example of kindness we all strive to follow, and the soul of every gathering. Her love will echo through generations.
Forever loved. Forever missed.
We love you, Mother. We love you, Grandma. Thank you for everything
