Carmen Rae (Brace) Periard, 83, of Sebree, Kentucky, passed away on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Carmen was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 28, 1941, to Chester Ray and Edythe Wynema (Jackson) Brace. She went to St. Theresa Grade School and graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1959. Carmen met her husband, Darryl, while he was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Six months later Darryl asked her to marry him, which she did December 26, 1964 and they began their family. She worked as a Teacher, a Nurse's Aide and worked at Kindergate Developmental Childcare Center. Carmen was involved with the Girl Scout for 50 plus years, 25 years as a leader. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, crocheting, crafting and card games. She also liked to read and do genealogy. Carmen loved the outdoors and camping. Her pride and joy was taking care of her many grandkids and great grandkids.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Darryl Periard of Sebree, KY; children, Jeanne Verna Periard, Tracey Rae Periard, and Trevor Eugene Periard; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Chet Brace of Murfreesboro, TN, David Wilder of Evansville, Jill Wilder of Peoria, IL, and Greg Wilder of Atkinson, KS.
Carmen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kellie Jo Frierson; a brother, Steve Wilder, and by her parents.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715 with Father Zach Etienne celebrating. Friends and family are invited to join for a meal at Old North Church on Stringtown Road following the service. Burial will be held privately at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 9:00 am until mass time on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to her grandson, Darrion Terrell, for final expenses and will be accepted at Browning Funeral Home.
