Carol May Blackinton, 80, of Judy Terrace, West Warwick, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at HopeHealth Hospice Center in Providence.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie (Coulthurst) Irons.
After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School, Carol attended Bryant College and went on to dedicate over 40 years to her career as an optician in Rhode Island.
A devoted member of St. David's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church in Cranston for nearly 60 years, Carol's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her many acts of kindness and service reflected her deep compassion and unwavering belief in helping others. In 2018, she was honored as the Rhode Island Episcopal Woman of the Year, a recognition of her lifelong commitment to her church and community.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas L. Blackinton, and their children: Jennifer Perkins and her husband Larry of Attleboro, MA; Thomas C. Blackinton and his wife Pamela of Warwick; and Bethany Correia and her husband Paul of Coventry. She also leaves behind her brothers, Thomas Irons and his wife Barbara of Cranston, and John Irons and his wife Diane of Marlborough, MA; her nephew, Coburn Blackinton; eight cherished grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who adored her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carol's Funeral Service on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in St. David's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston, RI 02920. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to FeedRI, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
