James S. Crothers Jr., age 66, passed away the morning of Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his residence. Born in Warwick, he was the only son of the late James S. Crothers Sr. and Mary I. (Whelan) Crothers-Phillips.

His love for cooking served him well as a chef at the Greenwood Inn for over 30 years. James was a die-hard New England sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team, whether it be the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics or Bruins. In quieter moments, he could be found reading a book with his beloved cat 'Ningy' by his side or relaxing with his sister at Johnson's pond. He loved the beach, playing cards and above all else, gatherings with his sisters and their families during the holidays.

He was the proud brother of Sherry Knight (husband, Robert), Wendy Senecal (husband, Michel) and Julie Rotondo (husband, William) and the cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves behind his step-father, Ronald Phillips who was also one of his closest friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with interment immediately following in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours to be held on Wednesday from 5-8pm in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Warwick Animal Shelter, 101 Arthur W Devine Blvd, Warwick, RI 02886 will be greatly appreciated.
