Carol A. (Christensen) Coughlin née Nergard, was the beloved wife of the late Kjeld (Cal) Christensen and the late James Coughlin. Carol was the loving mother of Julie (Bryan) Lochen and Kevin (Liz) Christensen and the stepmother of Pamela (Michael) Hinderlie.
Carol was the dear grandmother of Hannah and Sarah Lochen and Evan and Sean Christensen and a second mother to many nieces and nephews.
Carol grew up in Chicago attending Kelvyn Park High School. Carol was a lifetime resident of Spencer Highlands in Wauconda, growing up spending her summers there with her grandfather. After retirement she and Kjeld moved there full time, serving on the board of the neighborhood association for many years. She loved her time volunteering and giving back to the community that gave her so much in return. Being able to give her children and grandchildren the amazing summers at the beach that she grew up with, gave her tremendous joy. Carol was an avid bowler, card player, and loved making ceramics and cross stitch. Carol was a long-time member of Edgebrook Lutheran Church in Chicago where she was in the choir and enjoyed being a greeter on Sunday mornings. Always quick with a smile and welcoming all to the church. Upon moving full time to Wauconda in 1992 she joined Messiah Lutheran Church and American Legion post 911.
Visitation will be Thursday September 4th, 2025, from 4-8 PM at Kisselburg-Wauconda
Funeral Home. 235 N. Main St. Wauconda IL. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
