Carol E. Curreri, aged 86, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with her family by her side. Born on November 27, 1937, Carol was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of kindness and generosity.
Carol graduated from Hicksville High School in Hicksville, NY, and furthered her education at SUNY New Paltz, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Teaching. She dedicated 30 years to teaching elementary school, with a significant part of her career spent at Bridgehampton Elementary School. Carol pursued and received her Master's degree in Teaching in the late 1970s while raising her two sons as a single mother. After retiring from teaching, she became a Travel Agent, and enjoyed a 15-year career in the travel industry helping others explore the world, while indulging in her love of travel.
A devout member of The First Presbyterian Church in Southampton, NY, Carol was deeply involved in her religious community. As an avid reader, she also dedicated much of her time volunteering at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, NY and in the private library at the Stirling Heights Retirement Community in Bethlehem, Pa. Her personal interests included traveling, reading, and passionately supporting her favorite sports teams, which included the NY Mets, Jets, Rangers, and later the Philadelphia Phillies. Carol delighted in watching her sons and grandchildren participate in various sports throughout their educational journeys.
Survivors: Carol is survived by a loving family: her son Paul P. Curreri, Jr. and his wife Pamela (Oliver) Curreri; her son John C. Curreri and his wife Paulette (Dichiera) Curreri; her beloved grandchildren John Curreri, Jr. and his wife Kristen (Abbott) Curreri; granddaughter, Lisa (Curreri) Coppola and her husband Matthew Coppola; granddaughter Elana Curreri; granddaughter Gina (Curreri) Davis and her husband Matthew Davis; and her great-grandchildren Quinn Curreri, and Gavin and Vienna Coppola. She also leaves behind her cousin Karen (Anderson) Coghlan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alfhild Nygren, and her brother, Peter Nygren.
Carol's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and her commitment to nurturing and inspiring everyone around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her kindness and vibrant spirit.
There will be no public visitation. Donations may be made in her name to The Care Team Hospice, 5325 Northgate Dr. Suite 207, Bethlehem 18017

I first met Carol when she arrived as a resident of Sterling Heights Senior Living in Bethlehem. Carol, Bernice and I sat at the same table in the dining room for meals. Carol was always reading and helped out in the library here and was always happy to share her newspapers and puzzles with other residents. She will be missed by the residents here. Symphany to her two sons and the extended family. We'll meet in heaven some day. Bobbi Messerschmidt
