Carol Ann Dare, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022 while her son and her daughter lovingly stood by her bedside. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on December 2, 1936 where she grew up ice skating on snow covered ponds and caring for her two younger sisters. Her daughter had just moved Carol to Port St. Joe a year ago so they could spend more time together.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents Antoine and Mary (Ferns) Beliveau, her sister Sandy Beliveau, her first son John Vose, and daughter Tracy Daykin.
Carol, a loving, devoted mother, is survived by her sons, Don Dare (wife Jane), Jerry Dare (wife Debbie), John Dare (wife Angela), Mike Dare (wife Vicki), Jeff Daykin (wife Julie), Mark Daykin (wife Synthia) and her daughters Wendy Chafin (husband Lawrence), and Margo Gaceres (husband Gabriel).
She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren Scott Dare, Amber Dare, Alexa Dare, Brian Dare (partner Jon), Sean Dare (wife Emily), Scott Dare (fiancé Michele), Shannon (Dare) Gruce (Husband Nic), Michael John Dare (Jessica wife), Josh Dare, Mack Dare, Danielle Fowler (husband Domitrius), Joshua Daykin (wife Kat), Annie Newberry (husband Justin), Mark Gaceres (sife Michaela), Willow Daykin, Heather Wood (husband Nick), Tanner Chafin, and Adam Chafin; and sixteen great-grandchildren Alyna Merker, Jeremy Merker, Mariyah Garcia, Mikey Hill, Madden Hill, Able Austin, Addison Dare, Oliver Dare, David Dare, Nicole Dare, Avery Fowler, Henry Daykin, Kensie Daykin, Cameron Newberry, Luke Daykin, and Katie Mae Daykin.
Over the years Carol became "Mom" or "Momma Bear" to many very special people whom she loved dearly. She always welcomed anyone who needed a home-cooked meal, a soft bed, or a loving embrace; this included providing adventurous summer vacations to her extended California-family or when she was serving her famous chili to her "Cabin 8"-family in Wolf Laurel, North Carolina.
Carol lived to make people happy. She had never-ending energy and was always ready to help or give in any way she could. She loved cooking big meals, decorating for the holidays, ice skating, playing the piano, reading a good book, and watching the Hallmark Channel. Carol never met a stranger and always gave the best hugs. Her whole life revolved around her children who are forever grateful to have had such a spunky, big-hearted mother.
No services will be held.
