Carol Jane DeHass, 74, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on January 5, 1950, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Gibbony) Johnson. She was married to Earl H. DeHass, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2018.
Carol was a 1967 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She went on to earn her Associate's Degree from South Hills Business School in 1997. She worked as a nurse at the Laurelton State Hospital for 10 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela H. DeHass of Williamsport, and Angela R. Steel (Allen) of Pleasant Gap, two grandchildren, Alexis Weaver and Colton Rupert, a great grandson, Greyson Baker, and her beloved dog Molly, who was never far from her side. Also surviving is a brother, Gene Johnson (Mary) of Watsontown, and son-in-law, Justin Rupert of Milesburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Kylee Rupert, and a brother, Fred Johnson.
Carol's strong faith helped her navigate throughout many of life's challenges. She enjoyed going on mountain rides, reading, and being surrounded by people. She also looked forward to nights with Alexis, weekends with Colton, and Sunday play-dates with Greyson. More than anything, her life revolved around her family, cherishing the memories that were made over the years.
Funeral and burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
