"And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it". (Ecclesiastes 12:7)
Carol Ann Fowler, age 65, of Erwin, TN, passed away on September 14, 2024 at her home. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt who loved her family fiercely.
Carol was born on May 23, 1959 in Erwin, TN. As a result of her father being in the Navy for 23 years, she spent the majority of her early years traveling and living in many different locations throughout the United States.
Carol was a 1978 graduate of Unicoi County High School where she was a member of the UCHS marching band, playing clarinet, and eventually earning the position of Rifle Captain. Carol had attended ETSU majoring in Dental Hygiene. She was employed at US Forrest Service, Baxter Pharmaceuticals, Nuclear Fuel Services Lab and CSX Railroad.
Carol was extremely talented at drawing, writing stories and poetry. She loved the outdoors, spending time at lakes in the area water skiing, swimming and fishing. She loved her mother's cooking, playing in the snow, singing at the top of her lungs and other simple joys. She was a talented softball player, earning her the nickname "Radar", and encouraged her nieces and nephews to play sports. She loved music and had a sense of humor that was unmatched. She never met a person she didn't like.
Carol is predeceased by her mother, Emma Jean Renfro Fowler. Her dog, Snickers and her bunny, Bugs.
She is survived by her father, John Scott Fowler of Erwin, and two sisters, Teresa (Mike) Hulbert of Orlando, FL, and Cheryl (Glenn) Wright of Erwin. Carol also leaves behind nephews Justin and Trevor Hulbert, Orlando, FL, and nieces Lexie (Jared) Doan, Erwin, TN and Taylor Wright, Jacksonville, FL and great-nephews Andrew and Noah Doan, Erwin. The family would also like to recognize special friend Richard Cox who brought her so much joy and care the last 4 years.
Carol loved God, her Country, and her family. She will be missed by all who truly knew her.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
