Carol Garrison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeArman-Clark Funeral Home - Tishomingo on Feb. 11, 2026.
Carol Dee Garrison, 85, passed away on February 10, 2026, in Ada, Oklahoma.

Carol was born on December 23, 1940, in Dos Palos, California, to Oscar and Vivian (Rogers) Simmons. She graduated from Narbonne High School in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles, California, in 1958.

On April 24, 1972, she married Kenneth Garrison in Miami, Oklahoma. Carol worked as a billing clerk at U.S. Silica for many years before retiring in 1996. She attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek and was a faithful member of her community.

Carol was known for her warm heart, strong work ethic, and love for family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping, flipping through the Sears and Roebuck catalogs, and walking in the Sulphur park with her dear friend, Nita Patrick. She was especially known for making the best stew, chicken fried steak, and her unforgettable homemade hot rolls.

One of the greatest highlights of her life was working alongside her companion, Mel Lindel, and a host of wonderful cooks at the Mill Creek Senior Citizens Center, where they lovingly prepared meals for the elderly. She taught her family that the most important thing in life is to love and respect your mother and father - a lesson that will carry on for generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Vivian Simmons; her husband, Kenneth Garrison; and companion, Mel Lindel.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry Wood and wife Debbie, and Jimmie Wood and wife Anne; daughter, Janet Quaid and husband Keith; sister, Loletta "Fay" Ditmeyer; brother, Norby Simmons; grandchildren, Brittany Wood and Lauren Unwin and husband Raymond; great-grandchildren, Dayton Wood and Raelynn Unwin; along with a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Mill Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wood, Jimmie Wood, Raymond Unwin, Chad Chancellor, Keith Quaid, Chase Smith, Roger Patrick, and Benning Walling.
