Carol Gossmeyer, affectionately known as "Dolly" and to her family as "Bun" passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on October 18, 1935 to the late Violet and Frank Jones.
Carol became a wife to Howard Gossmeyer on August 5, 1950 in Cairo, Illinois. She was also a loving and crazy mother to her four children, Howard Gossmeyer, Shelly Nelson (Gossmeyer), Steven Gossmeyer, and Ramona Bartholomew (Gossmeyer). She also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Carol spent her life taking care of everyone. She became a homemaker when she became a mother. She also helped watch her grandkids and great grandkids as they grew up.
During her free time, Carol faithfully attended church at Pentecostals of Peoria, for over 50 years, where she met some wonderful people. She randomly made bread for herself and vegetable soup just for herself no one else. She loved spending time with her family as well as spending their money.
She is survived and will be missed by her three living children Shelly Nelson (Gossmeyer) of North Carolina, Steven Gossmeyer of Peoria Heights and Ramona Bartholomew (Gossmeyer) of Peoria Heights, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Dawn, Jodi, Tiffanie, Butch, Donny, John, Poppy, Gabe and Stephen, greatgrandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren and many special nieces, Mary, Debbie, Bonnie and Jona. She also has one living sister, Effie White of Low Point, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gossmeyer and her son, Howard Gossmeyer Jr, both of her parents, Frank and Violet Jones and eight of nine siblings.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Lashley and Ralph Hamilton co-celebrating. Visitation begins at 11:00 AM until time of service, also at the Mortuary. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pentecostals Church in Peoria, IL, 3510 W Malone St, Peoria, IL, 61605.
