Michael E. Roy

Michael Edward Roy, 71, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully at OSF Hospital on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose kindness, sense of humor, and strong work ethic touched everyone who knew him.

He was born on February 26, 1954 to Lester and Sylvan Roy in Portsmouth, VA.

Mike was married to his wife, Cheryl (Goldsby) Roy, for almost 47 years. Together they raised four children: Michelle (Eric) Sill, Brittany (Joshua) Clarke, Brett (Ashley) Roy, and Christopher Roy, and were later blessed with five grandchildren: Bailey Roy, Morgan Clarke, Riley Clarke, Addison Roy, and Gunner Sill.

He is also survived by his eight sisters, Cindy Rechner, Debbie McGrath, Leslie Spreitzer, Mary Cromer, Pamela Roy, Katie Hakey, Elizabeth Lembke, and Sally Dant, and many other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Luke Roy.

Mike worked for 38 years at Orkin Pest Control before retiring in 2020. He loved to talk to people and truly enjoyed running his route that led him to meet so many people over the years.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was often found doing odd jobs at home or for others. He was also a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan. One of Mike's greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow and succeed. Whether on the field or in the classroom, he took immense pride in their accomplishments and supported them every step of the way.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel and Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., with an inurnment and short committal service to follow.
