Carol J. Gray

Carol J. Gray, age 76, a life-long resident of Gloversville, NY, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, after courageously fighting a battle with cancer.

Born on December 2, 1949, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Barbara Brott Waffle.

Carol dedicated many years of her life caring for others as a nurse's aide at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her compassionate spirit and her desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her. An enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Carol loved spending time with her dog Reggie, playing bingo, and reveling in the laughter and conversation of her family gatherings. She took delight in the tranquil beauty of hummingbirds in her backyard.

As a mother, sister, and friend, Carol's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Tammi Russell, Amy Gray, Lisa Gray VanHorne (Mike), and Edward Gray Jr.; sisters, Patricia Morse, Linda Hickok, Barbara Hobbs, and Becky Craig; grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Anthony, Colby, Ethan, Katlyn, Jarrid, Nathaneil, Owen; and great-grandchildren, Graysin, Kaydence, Emery, Alaia, Alani, Thomas III, Ryleigh and Hendrix; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Gray Sr., who passed away in 2018. She was also predeceased by several brothers and her sister, Marion Sleezer, whose memories she always carried forward.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

A celebration of life will be held in the summertime with a date to be determined by the family.
