Carol Ann (Laing) Haskell gently departed this world on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 after nearly ninety-one years of life. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Trinity Methodist Church, 1310 N Main St, Lapeer, MI 48446.
Born on April 29,1934 in Pontiac, Michigan, Carol was the beloved daughter of James and Martha Laing. She graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Hills in 1952 and briefly worked for Pontiac Motor Company before helping children as an early elementary teacher's aide in the Walled Lake School System.
Carol met Delwyn Haskell at Five Points Community Church in Auburn Hills, where they later exchanged wedding vows. Together, they created a loving home in Union Lake, Michigan, where they raised their children: Delwyn Jr. (deceased), Sandra (John), Teri (deceased), Thomas (Kelly), and Nancy (Chuck, deceased). Carol and Del brought happiness and love to their 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought them much joy.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Carol was known for her faith, kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-spending time in the kitchen, tending to her plants and flowers, crocheting, and sharing laughter with those she loved. She often expressed her affection with a familiar phrase: "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck," ensuring her family always felt cherished.
In their retirement, Carol and Del moved to Florida, where they enjoyed many happy years together. After Delwyn's passing, Carol returned to the Lapeer area in 2017 to be close to family and friends. She remained graceful, dignified, and full of humor until the very end-always placing the needs of others before her own. Carol had a rare gift for making everyone she met feel welcome, special, and appreciated.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
